Ex I. Analyse
the sentences and substitute the definite article for an appropriate Ukrainian
demonstrative pronoun. Tr the sentences into Ukrainian.
1. This was the man Dorian Gray was waiting for. (O. Wilde) - це був той чоловік, на якого чекав
ДГ.

He had met
the woman at last - the woman he had thought little about, not being given to thinking about women. (Ibid.) – в решті решт, він зустрівся з тою жінкою – з тою самою жінкою, про котру
думав рідко, не маючи схильності думати про жінок.

Ex II. Substitute the definite article for an appropriate possessive pronoun.
Translate the sentences into Ukrainian.

the portrait grow old - . (O. Wide) – він висловив
це/своє божевільне бажання, щоб він сам залишався молодим навіки, а його
портрет старішав замість нього.
2.
It was his beauty that ruined him,
his beauty and the youth that he had prayed for. (Ibid.) – його
краса й зруйнувала його, його краса й та молодість, за яку він так молився.

thing off the face. I wish to see it.» (Ibid.) – прибери цю річ зі свого обличчя, я
хочу побачити його.
